Offkonsten! visits Uppsala konstmuseum with the exhibition Under The Same Rainbow. Not all art is suitable for everyone. Art must be allowed to chafe and causewith friction. But in the public space art should represent many different perspectives - so that we can all feel included, seen or understood in artworks that reflect us.

To increase the representation in the council’s art collection, LGBTQ+ young people from the S.A.G.A group (Sexuality And Gender Acceptance) have helped with new art acquisitions. For the exhibition, they have also made a selection from the council’sand the region's existing art collections. Some of the works belong to the art museum's collection. S.A.G.A is a council supported project that was started in 2015 by Heidi Rasmussen. They usually meet at Brantan's youth centre and collaborate with RFSL-young Uppsala.

The selection encompasses painting, drawing, photography and sculpture by many different artists. Both playfulness and difficulties have been included in the exhibition. It takes both sunshine and rain to create a rainbow. The light splits and suddenly several colours become visible, just as life is coloured in different ways by being seen from different perspectives. Embracing diversity is like capturing the whole rainbow.

The curator is artist Stuart Mayes.

The exhibition also includes a booklet presenting some of the S.A.G.A. group's own artworks.

Gallery Offkonsten! is usually located at Uppsala City Theatre, but with the exhibition Under The Same Rainbow it is visiting Uppsala Art Museum. Offkonsten! is a collaboration between Uppsala City’s public art department and Uppsala County’s cultural development office. The purpose of the gallery is to highlight processes around public art.
